Our client is a global leader in oil&gas technology providing cutting-edge solutions for its international customers. The innovative and reliable tools are designed to optimize efficiency, enhance productivity, and ensure safety in drilling operations. As our client expands the team, the company is seeking a skilled Technical Design Engineer who contributes to the ongoing success and would like to be part of revolutionizing the drilling industry with state-of-the-art technologies and a passion for excellence. The Technical Design Engineer (m/f/d) will provide proactive technical and engineering support, in close collaboration with the company's Research and Development, Business Development Managers and the company's President. The scope of expertise encompasses proficient knowledge in the domain of down hole drilling tools designs, drilling systems, flow rates, internal diameter (ID) restrictions, fluid properties, pressure limitations, and other pertinent factors.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Conduct internal and external technical presentations on developments made to existing products and any new products/services added to the company's offerings
- Assist in the development of standards, specifications, and procedures related to the products
- Perform comprehensive customer hydraulic calculations and provide recommendations and guidance using hydraulic software
- Train and support employees in hydraulic calculations
- Assemble, test, disassemble, and evaluate tools and components to identify non-conformities, establish testing criteria, and review procedures
- Gather application data/information from customers to aid in the development of new products
- Create design drawings using SolidWorks and associated engineering packages for modeling, drawing, simulation, composition, animation development, and photorealistic rendering of imagery
- Complete assigned tasks from initial concept to development and final implementation
- Act as a sounding board for the exchange of ideas with R&D, facilitating the advancement of topics and tool ideas through discussions and opinions
- Assist with failure analysis on standard and prototype tooling as required
- Provide proactive recommendations for improvements on existing components/tools
- Supervise prototype testing at the company's US facility or in the field (USA or abroad) when necessary
- Formulate strategies directed at expanding the company's product line offerings
- Proactively improving tools/features, exploring alternative design methods to reduce costs and machine time
- Contribute to the development of new products in line with the company's expansion strategies
To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences:
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil& gas industry, experience in down hole drilling tools required
- Excellent English communication skills
- Proficient in Solid Works software
- Must have knowledge of CAD drawings software
- Demonstrates expertise in designing tools and components
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of metallurgy and material coatings / treatments
- Capable of preparing materials and conducting technical seminars or presentations
- Skilled in methodical analysis of technical problems and providing effective solutions
- Can handle multiple projects and duties while maintaining focus, accuracy, and clarity
- Open to receiving feedback, ideas, and opinions from the team
- Excellent attitude towards health, safety and the environment
