Our client is a European company responsible for the planning and development of a large coke, power, and desalination plant in the UAE. It will be the most eco-friendly coking plant in the world to supply power and water to the United Arab Emirates. As HR Director, you will develop and implement HR policies and operations from scratch for all employees for the three plants, in accordance with local labor laws and regulations. The team will rapidly grow to a number of 600 employees and you will lead the human capital management strategy of all three plants. This visionary leader will enable an excellent employee experience and will be a steward of culture, mission, and values. The HR Director will help shape the most essential objective of a high-growth organization: attracting and developing the best talent for this top-class project.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and supervise all HR relates aspects including onboarding, compensation and benefits, HR handbook, and guidelines
  • Act as a role model and exemplify the company values, initiate and accompany change
  • Strengthen the global and interdisciplinary cooperation
  • Achieve and define corporate key figures, ensure that tasks and duties are performed in line with company standards, values and strategy
  • Recruit new hires on schedule and within budget and ensure minimal personnel turnover
  • Actively develop the headcount planning process
  • Responsibility for payroll execution, managing all compensation and benefits
  • Support the annual performance and competency review process, measuring and supporting management compliance with this process
  • Advise managers and supervisors in all personnel management issues
  • Supervision of labor law issues in compliance with legal and operational requirements, review potential conflicts
  • Salary determination and reviews in line with market benchmarks and company requirements
  • Implementation of a modern HR Management Systems
  • Ensure the required documentation of human resources-related data and information
  • Serving as the key member of the senior executive team in providing input to the CEO, Board, and management peers regarding the People implications of all major business decisions, as well as overall strategic objectives
  • Report to the CEO


To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences:

  • University degree in business administration or similar
  • At least 10 years of experience in a Senior Human Resources role in the UAE, preferable in an international or European company
  • Experience in a technical and fast-growing environment preferred
  • Expertise in local labour law is a requirement, a legal educational background would be a plus
  • Excellent English language skills, German would be advantageous
  • Experience with ERP- and HR-systems
  • Strong communication skills combined with successful track record in developing innovative and forward-thinking talent strategies and initiative at a high growth company
