Our European client is a company responsible for the planning and development of a large coke, power, and desalination plant in the UAE. The operations for this large-scale project have just begun and you will have the opportunity to become part of an international, fast-growing team. It will be the most eco-friendly coking plant in the world to supply power and water in the UAE. All three plants are being built according to EU, German and UAE regulations

As Balance of the Plant Director, your key role is to leverage capabilities to realize maximum synergies across the value chain, using state-of-the-art equipment. This role is unique and of high importance, as it builds a bridge between all three plants and focuses on operations and technology relevant to smooth the process of building and operating all plants simultaneously.


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide the support needed to keep all three plants running stably and efficiently according to German quality standards
  • Determine technical data and equipment to supervise EBoP and MBoP
  • Leverage capabilities to realize synergies across the value chain
  • Provide regular commission control of all units
  • Secure process standardization and improvements using IoT and AI
  • Mapping of insourcing and outsourcing according to maximize value-added
  • Build additional expertise in supporting infrastructure from learning effects
  • Overall continuous improvement using IoT Analytics and AI algorithms
  • Develop plans and deliver the best results while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors
  • Coach and make decisions related to talent management hiring and performance
  • Inspire and engage direct reports to role model high-performance team behaviors
  • Report to the COO


To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences:

  • University degree in Engineering, or similar
  • At least 10 years of working experience in a coke, oil&gas, energy-producing industry in Europe
  • Excellent English language skills, German would be an added value
  • Highly proficient in CRM applications and innovative analytic systems
  • Knowledge of IoT analytics is required
  • Strong communication and organization skills including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines
  • Flexible working hours as dictated by the needs of business for projects and meetings
  • Capability to effectively interact with a high degree of professionalism
  • Highly analytical and hands-on personality with a team-oriented and problem-solving mentality
  • Independent working attitude with attention to detail
  • Quick learner with strong IT affinity
  • Ability to work with a multi-cultural team
  • Willingness to move to the UAE (Fujairah) and to accept a long-term commitment
