Our client, a German family-owned company and manufacturer of high quality products and solutions in the construction material industry, is seeking a Managing Director to head commercial operations in India. The company is committed to provide innovative solutions and exceptional customer service, developing the Indian market even further and maximize business outcome in a region of enormous opportunities. A warehouse and production is already established in Bangalore and the Managing Director will be focusing on Sales and Marketing development, managing the profitability growth in the business segment, as well as general operations and leadership of the team of 50 employees. You will cooperate closely with the Head of production and R&D for all technical matters and inquiries. Our client expands its operations, has dynamic growth plans and is now seeking for the right sparring partner in Management to expand their business presence in India. 


Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide visionary leadership and set clear goals, strategies, and direction in alignment with the overall business vision in India
  • Full P&L responsibility and management of internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement business plans, budgets, and sales strategies to drive revenue growth and market penetration
  • Set targets for the entire unit as well as each subsidiary function
  • Evaluate market trends, industry competition, and customer needs
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and adherence to quality standards
  • Direct management of Regional Sales Management, and Head of Departments in Product Management, Marketing, Sales Administration, Technical Support, Finance and Controlling, and Production and Logistics
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, government agencies and stakeholders
  • Identify new business opportunities and cultivate strategic partnerships to foster growth and revenue diversification
  • Analyze financial data and monitor profitability, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Timely and correct preparation of the regular reporting documents to the central controlling department and to senior management
  • Support corporate values by setting an example in personal integrity, team play and shared responsibility across hierarchical levels
  • Act as the public speaker and public relation representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile
  • Ensure adherence to all local regulations, laws, and company policies, manage licensing, permits, and other legal requirements related to business operations
  • Report to the Management located in Austria


To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences:

  • Commercial or technical degree, level of MSc
  • At least ten years of relevant management experience in a leadership role, preferably in the construction materials sector
  • Strong background in Sales Management and Business Development is a must
  • Experience in B2B, preferably with a strong network in the building industry
  • Affinity for technically oriented premium products, solutions and project business
  • Passion for strategy development and sales and marketing
  • International working experience, either from working abroad or working in a multinational organization
  • Proficiency in English language skills are a must
  • Strong customer orientation

  • Proven analytical and organizational skills
